Greenham Common Half Marathon &10k Success

Sunday 25th February saw a fabulouos turnout for our first ever Half Marathon and 10K event at Greenham Common.  500 runners signed up and the event was a complete sell out.  The two events kicked off promptly on a frosty but wet morning with crowds of supporters and volunteers to cheer them on.

Many runners who had either raised more than or donated £50, wore a 'splash the purple' t-shirt; very recognisable as they followed the route past some of the Common's most iconic landmarks.

An amazing £20,000 was raised thanks to entry fees, sponsorship and donations. All the money will be put towards buying a specialise neonatal ventilator for The Royal Berks Hospital which will cost a total of £30,000. Jo Hilton, Lead Nurse Paediatrics and Neonates gave a small speech before the event thanking the runners for their support.

A huge thank you also goes out to Mark Hayes, Event Director and his team for pulling the event together, and of course to all those who volunteered to help on the day marshalling, registering runners and setting up the course.

The next event will be in 2025 with details to follow soon.
