Special baby grows and sheets for baby Reggie

When baby Reggie was born 5 weeks early, his mum, Newbury resident, Adara Stanswood felt she was reasonably prepared.  Reggie was her second baby born prematurely.  But shortly after his birth at North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke, Reggie was diagnosed with a rare skin condition causing his skin to blister and peel if he wears nappies or clothes. 

Reggie is also under the specialist care of Great Ormond Street Hospital for this condition but remains on the neonatal unit at Basingstoke until he is able to go home.  

 “Reggie needs to be covered in creams three times daily” said mum Adara, “which means that even the sheets or blankets in his incubator stick to him and cause further discomfort and problems.  We knew about the charity New Life Special Care Babies when we had our first baby Teddie. 

I contacted Trevor Goodall, CEO of the charity to ask for help with purchasing specialist silk sheets and baby grows that could be used for Reggie.  I was astounded when he replied and, within three days, met us at hospital to give us the items. Reggie now has silk sheets and baby grows that can be used against his skin to minimise blistering. It’s incredible.  These will make a huge difference to Reggie.”
